Read Pakistan???s Chapter GCWUF conducted a seminar on the topic ???The Greatest Gift is a Passion for Reading??? on 13th June, 2023 in collaboration with Department of English. The seminar was honored by the presence of respectable speakers Dr. Muhammad Asif and Malik Muhammad Rafique. Team of Read Pakistan???s GCUF Chapter also joined the event. Ms. Sadia Waheed, focal person of Read Pakistan 50 BAY, Ms. Saira Akhtar, Head of English Department, Dr. Rukhsana Baloch, Coordinator of Faculty of Humanities and Languages, Ms. Amara Javed, Add'l Director Press Media & Publication, and respectable teachers of English department joined the seminar. The event was hosted by Miss Javeria Maqbool and Miss Noor-ul-Aein. Ms. Saira Akhtar welcomed the guests and shared her views on book reading. Dr. Muhammad Asif, Assistant Professor of English at GCUF was welcomed to share his words of wisdom on the topic ???Reading Shakespeare in Contemporary Perspective.??? He talked about how our mindset has been shaped by western authors and enlightened the audience on the myths and controversies about Shakespeare; thus presenting the author from a postcolonial perspective. The second speaker of Read Pakistan, Mr. Malik Muhammad Rafique talked on the topic ???The Greatest Gift is a Passion for Reading???. He told the audience the importance and benefits of book reading that he himself experienced as a reader and advised the students to make books their mentors. Dr. Rukhsana Baloch, Coordinator of Faculty of Humanities and Languages, shared her views on reading as a very productive activity for students. She thanked the faculty members and speakers for encouraging the students to improve their reading habits. Certificates of appreciation and the best reviewer of 2022 Read Pakistan Book Club were given to the members of the book club of Read Pakistan???s Chapter GCWUF to acknowledge their contributions. The focal person, Ms. Sadia Waheed concluded the seminar and thanked the worthy speakers and faculty members for gracing the occasion with their kind presence.
